Eligibility Requirements for Veterans Parking (please read before parking)

Houston Airports is proud to offer complimentary parking for eligible veterans at both IAH and HOU. If you have a qualifying Texas veteran license plate, here’s how it works.

Do I Qualify?
To receive complimentary parking, all of the following must be true:
  • You are present in the vehicle when exiting the parking facility.
  • Your vehicle displays a permanently affixed, active (unexpired) Texas Veteran license plate.
  • You present a valid driver’s license or military ID.
  • You must provide the current, original (unexpired) DMV vehicle registration renewal paper receipt for the veteran plate holder. Digital copies (phone/tablet images or screenshots) will not be accepted at checkout.

Temporary dealer or paper tags are not accepted.

How Long Can I Park?
Eligible veterans may choose one of the following per airport visit:
  • Up to 60 consecutive days in an ecopark lot

Or

  • Up to 5 consecutive days in a parking garage

If your vehicle remains parked beyond the complimentary period, the standard daily parking rate will apply for each additional day.

What Do I Need to Do at the Airport?
  • Pull a ticket when entering the parking facility.
  • Exit through a “Need Help” lane.
  • Allow the parking attendant to verify your license plate and eligibility.

When Complimentary Parking Does Not Apply
Complimentary parking will not be offered if:
  • The vehicle displays temporary dealer or paper tags.
  • The Veteran license plate is not mounted on the vehicle.
  • The Veteran is not present in the vehicle at exit.
  • The parking is for work purposes (employees must use employee parking).
  • The benefit is combined with valet parking or an online reservation.

Please note: Complimentary parking is subject to availability and applies per airport visit. Once you exit the parking facility, refunds will not be issued.

In order to receive the complimentary parking, the veteran must be present at the time of exiting the parking facility. Watch this video explaining the benefit.

Qualifying veterans can choose
  • Up to 60 consecutive days in an ecopark lot OR
  • Up to 5 consecutive days in a parking garage

If the vehicle is parked past the complimentary period, the Veteran is responsible for paying the daily parking rate for each additional day. Refunds will not be issued after a vehicle leaves the parking facility.

Remember:

  • The complimentary service is per visit to the airport, subject to parking availability, and cannot be combined with an online parking reservation.
  • Please be informed that the veteran parking is not applicable for personnel reporting for work purposes. Personnel are required to park in employee parking.

Please note that once you exit the parking lot, refunds will not be issued.
