TSA Agent Assists Stranded Passenger During Hurricane Harvey
March 5, 2018

Inspiring stories from Hurricane Harvey are still emerging. A passenger recently sent a positive note about Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Officer Eric Pierre Paul Deltgen.

A passenger was on her way to San Antonio from Washington D.C., with a connecting flight in Houston. With flights cancelled, she decided to rent a car and make the drive to San Antonio, TX. She only made it a few miles when she encountered a flooded roadway, and water started coming into her car. She immediately got out of the car in waist-deep water and started walking back to the airport.  Officer Deltgen was on his way from a longer than normal shift, saw her walking, and immediately stopped and offered to drive her back to the airport.

The customer noted:

“He truly saved my life that day. He walked me to the hotel and asked staff for a blanket and made sure I was safe before leaving. He could have dropped me off at the airport and said, “Have a nice day,” but he did so much more than just pick me up.  He went out of his way to help me as he was on his way home after a very long shift, and his day became longer because of his kindness and caring to help me. He rescued me that day, and I am forever grateful.”
