Houston Airports and Lone Star College-Houston North (LSC-Houston North) partnered to distribute food, face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and soap to the residents of the Acres Homes community. The mask drive was held in partnership with the Houston Airport System, the Houston Food Bank, Avenue 360 Health and Wellness and the City of Houston.

Mayor Sylvester Turner and the rest of the team handed out 400 boxes of food, 6,400 face masks, 1,600 bottles of hand sanitizer, 1,000 sets of gloves and 1,600 bars of soap to help residents protect themselves against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Houston Airport System is proud to be a community partner to the residents of Houston and were happy to be involved in this very important event," said Houston Airports Chief Community Relations Officer Rhonda Arnold. “Special thanks to Ashley Turner, Executive Director, Community Relations, LSC-Houston North for the invitation to help serve this community."

The event was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. but cars started lining up at 5:30 a.m. which demonstrated the event’s importance to the community.
