Houston Airports Employees Continue to be Recognized in the Business Community
October 19, 2020

The Houston Business Journal recently held its 2020 Women Who Mean Business awards honoring businesswomen working in the Houston-area.  Two Houston Airports executives, Chief Terminal Management Officer Liliana Rambo and Chief Community Relations Officer Rhonda Arnold, were honored at the event.

Rambo was honored with the 2020 Woman Who Inspire award. She recently led the teams from George Bush Intercontinental, IAH and William P. Hobby, HOU, airports to receiving a Skytrax rating  of 4 stars at both airports. Skytrax provides the ratings according to the passenger experience provided by the airports. Skytrax auditors consider more than 750 individual categories to come up with the rating. Capital projects, airport ambiance, passenger amenities, transportation, way finding, customer service and concession offerings are some of the items rated during the audit. Rambo also helped create a mentorship program with Texas Southern University for aviation students. The program assists students with finding opportunities to work in aviation after graduating.

Arnold was named as one of the 2020 Women Who Mean Business in the nonprofit category. She develops strategies in the aviation community with key stakeholders and educational outreach to underserved youth and families. She strives to enrich the lives of those individuals that participate and build better organizations. Arnold mentors students and employees in the field of aviation and transportation at Houston ISD, Aldine ISD and Spring ISD, Texas Southern University’s Aviation and Transportations departments among other organizations including area chambers of commerce, civic groups and aviation trade organizations.   Arnold currently serves on several boards including the Texas Southern University Aviation Advisory Board and Aviation and Aerospace Women of Excellence Board of Directors.

“The most important traits for being an effective leader are integrity and resilience,” Arnold said. “It is important to be true to yourself, be authentic and to have the ability to be flexible and bounce back when challenges occur in life and work.”

Rambo was also honored by the Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber held its 2020 Women in the Fast Lane, which celebrates Houston's leading executive women and men in STEM careers. Rambo was named one of the 31 Houston-area women awarded in the prestigious Role Model category.

Houston Airports is proud to employ enterprising women who contribute to the success of the organization.
