Houston Airports Director of Infrastructure Controls Justina Mann was recently elected to a two-year term on the Airport Minority Advisory Council’s (AMAC) 2020 Board of Directors. Mann will serve as Southwest Regional Director and will help the organization’s mission to promote diversity in the airport industry.

AMAC is the only national, non-profit trade association dedicated to advance the full participation of minorities and women in employment and contracting opportunities throughout the aviation and aerospace industries.

"AMAC is taking bold steps to ensure the legacy of the organization as well as fortify a strong future for current and upcoming aviation professionals," said Mann. "I believe my past successes will allow me to contribute innovative processes and ideas to overcome these challenging times."

Mann also serves as Chair of the Chapter Development Committee, which is focused on developing and implementing a strategy to increase local chapters and affiliates.

Houston Airports enjoys a strong partnership with the organization. Ten airport system employees hold memberships and have served as advisors on important subject matter affecting the airport industry. Chief Community Relations Officer Rhonda Arnold has been a member of the organization since 2011 holding various leadership positions including on the board of directors as Southwest Regional Director, At-Large Director and as the Houston Conference Chairwoman of the 2017 AMAC National Conference. She currently serves on the Communications, Membership, and Government Relations committees.

The airport industry is experiencing unprecedented challenges due to the global pandemic. “With the support of our fellow members, AMAC is poised to overcome the headwinds and aspire to new heights. Let me publicly thank this volunteer Board for its commitment and service,” said Ricky Smith, AMAC chairman and executive director of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI).

Since 1984, AMAC has been at the forefront of nearly every national policy initiative impacting the participation of disadvantaged businesses in airport contracting. AMAC works consistently with Congress, the Federal government, aviation trade associations and others as a resource for information, education and guidance.
