Houston Airports Celebrates National Dog Day
September 10, 2019

Houston Airports and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently “let the dogs out” to celebrate National Dog Day, which is celebrated annually on August 26.

In partnership with Canine Companions for Independence, Houston Airports hosted two prospective service dogs and their handlers. The airport familiarization tour prepares them for experiences like security checkpoints and boarding an aircraft.

In addition, the TSA held a live demonstration and informational event on their Passenger Screening Canine  (PSC)  teams who are specially trained to detect explosives and explosive components.  PSCs provide an extra layer of security used to screen departing passengers.

As always, the Houston Airports Therapy Dogs were meeting and greeting with two-legged friends to add some comfort to the airport experience for travelers.
