The people have spoken — again — and said that George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is one of the best airports in the United States, according to a readers’ poll conducted by Conde Nast Traveler.
A respected outlet for luxury and lifestyle travel media, Conde Nast Traveler released the results of its 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards today, and in the Best Airports in the U.S. rankings, Bush Airport came in at No. 9. Find the link to the complete rankings at this link.
Bush ranked high among the more than 400,000 readers of the site for its recent transformations, including enhanced dining and shopping options, plus an attention to details like available charging stations and fast, free Wi-Fi.
The site’s entry for Bush Airport read: “This United Airlines megahub has undergone a transformation in the last few years, and it’s won kudos from fliers who appreciate everything from the expanded selection of food and shops, to the plentiful charging stations and free Wi-Fi—plus those ubiquitous iPads that let you order meals and surf the web from all over the carrier’s terminal. Its partnership with airport concession firm OTG has reeled in top Houston chefs, including James Beard Award-winner Chris Shepherd. Translation? No need to brown bag it here.”
The latest honor comes on the heels of the recent release of the J.D. Power 2018 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, which saw Bush Airport tied for sixth among the “mega” airports in the United States, an improvement of five spots from its No. 11 ranking in 2017.
As well, the latest honor amplifies the historic results of the 2018 Skytrax review, which saw Bush Airport earn a 4-star rating for the first time, and William P. Hobby earn a 4-star rating for the third year in a row, making Houston only the third city in the world with two airports given a 4-star rating, and the only city in the Western Hemisphere with two 4-star rated airports.
“The top Houston Airport System strategic priority is the make our passengers happy, and results like these, both from a respected industry media outlet like Conde Nast Traveler and an industry standards leader like J.D. Power, tells us that we are on the right track,” said Houston Aviation Director Mario C. Diaz. “The commitment to excellence at all three of our airports drives us on a daily basis, and while these results are appreciated, they serve more to push us toward our ultimate goal of becoming 5-star airports.”
