One morning in April, through the watchful eye of Houston Airports employee Patricia Ward, two pit bulls were discovered outside on airport property near Terminal A. Houston Airports employees Don Cooley and Vincent Baker, who work in landside operations, approached the dogs and found that the dogs were friendly. Unfortunately, they were most likely abandoned at the airport by their owner.
Houston Airports employees Samantha Deal and Jaime Sanchez joined Cooley and Baker and eventually gained the dogs trust and provided them with food and water. They then led the dogs to a safe area until the proper agency could arrive to retrieve them.
The employees were instrumental in determining the nature and friendliness of the dogs to make the situation more tenable and went above and beyond their normal job requirements.
“There are times when our customers may not be human, but still require good customer service, concern, care and attention,” said IAH Landside Operations Supervisor Vincent Baker. “These loveable pets in a bad situation now have another chance.”
