IAH remains fully operational with multiple airlines serving Spirit destinations
HOUSTON — Effective immediately, May 2, 2026, Spirit Airlines ordered a wind-down of its operations. All Spirit flights have been canceled, and customer service is no longer available. Spirit’s customer service counters at IAH are closed, and the airline’s signage is being removed across the airport to avoid confusion. Spirit Airlines is urging passengers not to go to the airport.
- Visit Spirit’s website for information related to re-bookings, refunds and customer communication.
- All other airlines at IAH continue to operate normally.
- Air carriers at Bush and Hobby airports serve destinations similar to Spirit’s network, giving travelers alternative options.
“Spirit Airlines made the decision to cease operations at Bush Airport, and we know that creates uncertainty for travelers. Our focus is on delivering clear information, compassionate support and a safe, seamless experience for everyone who walks through our doors,” said Jim Szczesniak, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “Houston Airports remains fully operational, and our teams are working together to guide passengers to the resources and airline options they need to continue their journeys.”
