May 26, 2016

HOUSTON — Vacation Express is back for the summer travel season, kicking off the Memorial Day weekend with the relaunch of weekly, non-stop flights from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Grand Bahama Island on Thursday, May 26, 2016, and launching new weekly service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on Friday, May 27, 2016.

The popular escapes to Grand Bahama Island will run through July 30, 2016, and the new service to Punta Cana will be available through July 29, 2016.

Vacation Express first entered the Houston market in May 2015. The Houston to Grand Bahama Island service is operated via Sunwing Airlines and departs early morning and returns early evening, allowing for maximum beach time. Each flight comes with Sunwing Airlines’ award winning “Champagne Service” and the option to upgrade to Elite Plus for extra leg room and an extra 44 pounds of free checked luggage for an additional fee — perfect for a quick, affordable escape.

The Houston to Punta Cana Vacation Express packages include a nonstop flight operated via Swift Air, hotel accommodations and all taxes. All-inclusive resorts also include all meals and unlimited drinks at one low price. The flight will operate once per week.

“Travelers in the Houston region enjoy a growing number of destinations and quality carriers, both for business and pleasure,” said Molly Waits, Director of Air Service Development for the Houston Airport System. “This latest new service by Vacation Express expands the options in the leisure travel market even more. We look forward to a successful launch of these flights and having Vacation Express as part of the family of quality air carriers serving the growing numbers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.”

These flights just in time for Memorial Day Weekend are the perfect way for couples and families alike to welcome the summer season with open arms and celebrate the end of the school year.

The Director General, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Mrs. Joy Jibrilu said, “Grand Bahama is one of our country's most exciting and adventurous destinations. The Island has so much to offer especially with its myriad of eco-tourism attractions, its pristine beaches that go on for miles, world-class resorts and great shopping. We are so glad that with these packages through Vacation Express, people from across Houston and the surrounding areas, will have the opportunity to experience this GRAND destination for themselves.”
