Southwest Airlines Announces New International Destinations from William P. Hobby
May 13, 2015

HOUSTON, TX– Southwest Airlines chairman and CEO Gary Kelly announced Wednesday that Southwest Airlines will add Liberia, Costa Rica, its 97th destination, on Nov. 1.

The daily service will be from the new Houston Hobby Airport international terminal, scheduled to open Oct. 15.

Southwest previously had announced that it would fly from Hobby to four cities in Mexico, plus San Jose, Costa Rica, and Belize City, Belize, beginning Oct. 15 and Montego Bay, Jamaica, on Nov. 1. It began service to Aruba earlier this year.

Kelly said he’s never been to Liberia, but “I understand it’s an awesome place to go.”

Houston will be a major international connection point for Southwest Airlines customers traveling from Dallas Love Field, where federal law bans nonstop international flights.
