OTC is the largest event in the world for the oil and gas industry featuring more than 2,300 exhibitors, and attendees representing over 100 countries.
During OTC week, the Houston Airport System also welcomed the annual International Sustainable World (Engineering Energy Environment) Project (I-SWEEEP) Olympiad that draws hundreds of the brightest STEM-focused students from around the world together to compete in a fun and collaborative environment. ISWEEEP started 10 years ago in an effort to spark interest among young innovators for exploring solutions to sustainability challenges. The competition expanded as students across the globe accepted the challenge of solving the world’s most pressing needs. Today, there was $100,000 in awards and scholarships to student scientists from approximately 60 countries, including the United States, who competed with projects exploring topics such as renewable energy, sustainable development and medical breakthroughs.
Founded in 1969, OTC’s flagship conference is held annually in Houston.
