Houston Airport System, CargoLogicAir Celebrate Launch of Service at Bush Airport
November 9, 2017

Representatives from Houston Airports and CargoLogicAir celebrated the launch of service from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on Oct. 26, 2017, with an event at The Woodlands Waterway Marriot.

Houston Airports Chief Operating Officer Jesus Saenz and CargoLogicAir’s Chief Commercial Officer Steve Harvey both offered remarks about the partnership, which launched in August 2017.

“The addition of CargoLogicAir is yet another step in the growing cargo operations at Bush Airport," said Saenz. "Houston Airports remains committed to developing and improving intermodal connectivity, and new services such as these help Houston Airports achieve its mission of connecting the people, businesses, cultures and economies of the world to Houston.”

The only British all-cargo airline now offers service from Houston to Frankfurt, Germany, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates with twice-weekly flights using Boeing 747-400 freighters.

IAH offers two air cargo centers and specializes in the handling of industrial machinery, oil and gas equipment, medical equipment, aircraft parts, engines, perishables, computers and auto parts. IAH Cargo Center is a 120-acre facility with more than 600,000 square feet of on-airport warehouse space and parking space for 20 widebody freighters. The center provides direct access to foreign trade zones, hydrant fueling and a full-service perishables center refrigerated warehouse space. IAH Cargo Center also offers animal and plant inspection facilities and on-site fumigation, allowing shippers to move their time-and-temperature-sensitive freight quickly, thereby preserving its value.

  • With such a diversified economy in Houston (oil, gas, chemical, aerospace, construction, medical and technology industries), air cargo growth comes from different sectors, mainly on the international side.
  • In 2016, IAH handled 459,800 metric tons of cargo, half of those shipping internationally. This represented a 2.5% growth vs. 2015.
  • Through August, IAH has handled over 270,000 metric tons of cargo in 2017, which represent a 3.2% growth YTD.
  • 11 Cargo carriers offer scheduled service through the US and 22 weekly international flights to Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We also have a very strong market for cargo charters moving large pieces of equipment around the world, mainly for the oil and gas industries.
