HOUSTON — Travelers planning to use the Hardy Toll Road to get to George Bush Intercontinental this weekend will need to find an alternate route.
The Harris County Toll Road Authority will close all lanes of the Hardy Toll Road and the Airport Connector from noon Friday, July 15 through 5 a.m. Monday July 18 to complete the final stage of converting the toll road to all-electronic tolling.
All entrance ramps to the Hardy Toll Road, including from IH 45, the Sam Houston Tollway and IH 610 will also be closed during this time.
Also, starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, HCTRA will close the cash lanes and divert all traffic through the EZ TAG lanes on the Hardy Toll Road, including Hardy North, South and Airport Connector plazas. At that time, tolls will be waived on the Hardy and construction crews will begin to decommission tolling equipment at the plazas. Traffic can continue to drive on the Hardy until noon on Friday, July 15.
Drivers should expect delays this weekend when traveling this section of the tollway and are advised to plan ahead. Travelers planning to come to Bush Intercontinental can still access the airport from the Sam Houston Tollway via John F. Kennedy Boulevard on the south side, or by using the Will Clayton Boulevard entrance off Texas 59/IH 69 on the east side of the airport.
The Hardy Toll Road will reopen on Monday, July 18 at 5 a.m. as an all-electronic toll road.
