Construction will close lower ramp overnight at Hobby Airport in coming weeks
May 22, 2015

Construction on the $156 million international terminal at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) will impact the airport’s passenger drop-off and pick-up areas on a daily basis in the coming weeks.

Beginning Monday, May 25, and running through June 19, the lower ramp area used for pickup of arriving passengers will close 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. Arriving passengers being picked up will be directed to the upper ramp during the closed hours. Signage in the baggage claim area will direct arriving passengers to the upper ramp, and airport personnel will be on hand to help direct passengers and vehicle traffic. Areas in the upper ramp also will be designated for taxi, shuttle and metro staging.

After 6 a.m., the lower ramp area will be available for normal pick-up procedures.

Already, some overnight closures have been necessary to allow work on the roadway modifications at Hobby Airport, which are part of both the new international terminal and multi-level parking garage. The five-gate international facility is expected to open in October 2015.

While this work is being completed, please allow extra traveling time and drive with caution when coming to the airport.
