Wings Over Houston Continues to Soar
November 7, 2016

Thousands of Houstonians came out for the 32nd Annual Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Houston Airshow on October 22-23, 2016.

The show featured aerial performances by the AeroShell Acrobatic Team, several acrobatic performances, a demonstration flight of the F-16 viper and an Air Force Heritage Flight, which will include an F-16 Falcon, P-47 Thunderbolt and an F-35 Lightning II Stealth Fighter, among other nail-biting performances.

The airshow honored the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, paying tribute to the service, sacrifice and heroism demonstrated during WWII. Tora! Tora! Tora! performed their explosive reenactment of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Ace pilots and military veterans made appearances in the Legends & Heroes Autograph Tent. The show also included appearances from several World War II veterans, including Col. Dick Cole, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday and is the last surviving member of the famous Doolittle Raiders.

One of the top air shows in the United States in its category, the Wings Over Houston Airshow attracts more than 85,000 festival goers throughout Houston as well as from around the globe. The 2016 Airshow benefits the Wings Over Houston Airshow Scholarship Program, Aviation Career Education Academy, Exchange Club of Sugar Land, Westchase Rotary Club and the Commemorative Air Force aircraft restoration and flying historical programs, in addition to numerous other nonprofit organizations.
