Houston Airports is again ready to welcome millions of Spring Break travelers to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). An estimated 2.3 million passengers are expected to travel through both airports during a 12-day travel period which begins March 7 and ends March 18.

Passenger totals are forecasted to exceed the 2023 Spring Break travel total of 2.1 million. That’s an 8% increase year over year, creating the single busiest Spring Break travel period on record for Houston Airports.

  • Hobby Airport is ready to welcome nearly 540,000 passengers
  • Bush Airport is ready to welcome nearly 1.8 million passengers

Houston Airports is urging holiday travelers to plan and prepare, because:

  1. More people will be flying in and out of Houston
  2. More people are predicted to be on Houston-area roads
  3. Construction continues at Bush Airport

“Houston Airports is ready for increased crowds,” said Jim Szczesniak, Director of Aviation for Houston Airports. “From ensuring traffic flows as drivers approach our terminals at IAH and HOU to fully staffing curbside operations and supporting additional Houston police officers at both airports, our team is ready to ensure each guest has a 5-Star experience. We encourage passengers to do their part by planning and preparing for their visit to our airports.”

Come Early and Relax | Playgrounds, restaurants, shops, Interfaith chapels, Mother’s Rooms and pet relief stations are among the world-class amenities offered at our airports. Engage with our Art Ambassadors and Pet Therapy dogs and enjoy live musical performances in our terminals.

Flying out of Bush Airport | For domestic flights, if you’ve checked in online and are not checking bags, you can go through TSA security screening at any terminal, then use the Subway, Skyway or IAH Tunnel system to connect to the terminal needed for departure. If you need to check bags for your flight, complete the check-in process at the terminal designated by your airline.

CONSTRUCTION AT BUSH AIRPORT

A new world-class international terminal and a transformation of Terminal B are under construction at IAH. Houston Airports prioritizes the guest experience and mitigating construction projects to minimize traffic impacts during Spring Break.

HEADING TO THE AIRPORT? FOLLOW THESE RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Prepare for a TSA screening by following the 3-1-1 rule and reviewing a list of prohibited items.
  • Monitor TSA wait times in real-time at Hobby Airport and Bush Airport.
  • Build in extra time to your airport arrival time so you can find parking, check luggage and get your airline ticket, complete the required TSA security screening and comfortably walk to your gate on time.
  • Reserve airport parking online to save money and guarantee a parking spot in a garage or ecopark lot
  • Anticipate high parking volumes in terminal garages and ecopark lots. Give yourself more time to find a parking space, and possibly navigate to another parking location if your first choice is full.
  • Wait in a free cell phone lot until your passenger is ready at the Arrivals curb with their bags.
