Houston Airports Supports Consular Corp Event
November 7, 2016

For more than six decades the Houston Consular Ball has stood as the City’s premier white tie event, recognizing members of the nation’s third-largest consular corps and celebrating the rich diversity that makes Houston such a unique and powerful player on the global stage.

Bringing together key figures in Houston’s diplomatic and political community, titans of business and community leaders, this year’s Consular Ball, “Houston: Champions in the Global Arena,” exemplified Houston’s spirit of vitality and global participation, as well as its tireless commitment to progress, whether it be in the fields of commercial air transportation, sports, medicine, space exploration, energy or the arts. The attendees experienced an unparalleled opportunity to interact and network with various individuals who collectively drive the growth of Houston’s economy and its ever-increasing position in the global marketplace.

“Our relationship with the 92 members of the Consular Corp of Houston has been a significant component to the airport system’s growth, including attracting new airlines, promoting travel and encouraging international trade and investment,” said Director of International Relations  Željka Momirović who manages the personalized protocol assistance program for consular corp members and dignitaries.

The theme “Champions in the Global Arena,” looked to the power of sports as a symbol of Houston’s dedication to cooperation and international growth. In less than a year Houston will have hosted the Final Four, Copa America Centenario and Super Bowl LI.
