May 2015 e-Newsletter
The flurry of nonstop air service activity continues. Air New Zealand recently announced plans to connect Houston and Auckland in December, and Spirit Airlines launches nonstop international routes from Houston this month. To accommodate the unprecedented international growth, the Houston Airport System is constructing a new international terminal and recently selected firms to serve in various roles of the IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program. Southwest Airlines is set to bring back international air service to Hobby Airport with its first international flight on March 7. Houston Airports are again posting record-setting passenger traffic numbers. As the new year gets underway, new airlines are announcing plans to start nonstop service from Houston to exciting destinations. HAS recently made two big announcements. Houston is already learning about two new international air carriers launching in 2015; EVA Air and All Nippon Airways recently announced plans to provide nonstop air service to Taiwan and Tokyo, respectively. The great news for Houston air travelers continues as Southwest announced its plans for nonstop service to international destinations from the new international terminal at Hobby Airport, which will open later this year.
