Where has the time gone? We'll show you!

It all began in the 1960s.  Houston Intercontinental Airport's opening day was on Sunday, June 8, 1969. But, if you take a look at the timeline, things started brewing years before that significant date.

Take a peek at the very beginning when work began on the very first runway in December 1962. Follow along and see photos of Disney's Mickey Mouse inaugurate the underground Interterminal train in 1979; to the addition of terminals, the rededication and renaming of the airport to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in 1997 to today on both the timeline below and the video link to the left.

The Big 4-0 is an event to remember

Turning 40 is a big deal...even if the big day is in honor of our international gateway to Houston -- George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Our party included psychedelic colors and dancing to the tunes of the 1960s.  It was a blast to celebrate the past.
