This week, we will be tweeting a few trivia questions to gear up for the FREE 45th Birthday Celebration for George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Saturday, June 8, 2014. Participants that tweet us the answer correctly with the hashtag #IAH45 will be entered into a drawing for PRIZES! Winners must be following @IAH on Twitter.

On June 8, 1969, the first flight landed at Houston Intercontinental Airport. What type of aircraft was it?

Answer: At 12:02 a.m., a Texas International DC-9 flown by Captain A.J. High and carrying a large group of public officials and dignitaries made the first landing at Houston Intercontinental Airport.

Moments later, a scheduled Continental Airlines flight touched down to inaugurate regular airline service.
