Houston Airport System has a five-year capital improvement program, which was approved by the City of Houston City Council and calls for $984 million of spending through fiscal year 2017. The spending is concentrated in airfield and terminal projects with the majority of the spending concentrated at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. An updated CIP is approved annually by the Houston City Council as part of each new fiscal year. The CIP was approved on June 27, 2012 by City Council.
