The Houston Airport System has a five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which is approved annually by the City of Houston City Council. The FY2015-2019 program was approved on July 9, 2014 by Council and calls for $1.2 billion in spending. This CIP concentrates on terminal renovations and expansion along with airfield and infrastructure projects. The dominant terminal project, shown as Project A-000600, which provides for the replacement of the existing Terminal D at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
