Global Entry FAQs
Who is eligible for Global Entry?
The program is open to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents who are frequent international travelers, provided they have not been found guilty of a criminal offense, charged with a customs or immigration offense, or declared inadmissible to the U.S. under immigration legislation. Biometric fingerprint technology is used to verify the passenger's identity and confirm his or her status as a Global Entry participant.
How do you enroll in Global Entry?
Applications for enrollment in the Global Entry program are available through the Global On-Line Enrollment System (GOES) at www.cbp.gov/travel. The Global Entry application process includes the following steps:
» An applicant must complete and submit an on-line application through GOES and pay a $100 fee through www.Pay.gov
» CBP officers review the applicant's information and a background investigation is conducted
» The applicant will undergo an interview with CBP officers at an Enrollment Center in Houston -

How does Global Entry work?
Upon returning from an international trip into Houston, passengers who are enrolled in Global Entry may bypass the regular passport control line and walk right up to one of the four Global Entry kiosks at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
The following steps happen during the Global Entry process:
» A passenger inserts his or her passport or U.S. permanent resident card into the document reader at the Global Entry kiosk
» The traveler is then asked to allow the system to check his or her fingerprints
» The system compares biometric data with the fingerprint biometrics on file
» The system will take a digital photo of the passenger to document the transaction
» The passenger must answer declaration questions posted on the kiosk's touch-screen
» He or she is then issued a transaction receipt, which must be presented to the CBP officer as the participant exits the inspection area.
