Frequent international travelers – Global Entry
Continuing its tradition of piloting important new transportation initiatives, the Houston Airport System, this month, welcomed the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff at George Bush Intercontinental Airport’s expansive Federal Inspections Services facility. Secretary Chertoff flew in to Houston to kick-off the Department of Homeland Security’s latest transportation initiative known as the Global Entry Program.

In four months – 17 million passengers Through the first four months of 2008, the Houston Airport System served a record 17 million passengers. An estimated 4.3 million passengers traveled through Houston’s airports during the month of April 2008 alone, according to the latest traffic figures released this month by the Houston Airport System.

City proposes compatible land use regulations In 2006, the FAA admonished the City of Houston for allowing incompatible development to encroach into areas affected by airport operations. In an effort to promote compatible land uses the City of Houston is proposing new regulations to control future development around the three airports.

F-16 unit moves to next chapter of distinguished history While blustery wind played havoc with the microphone on occasion, the proud members of the 147th Fighter Wing standing in formation enjoyed the breeze on their faces here June 7. The 147th marked this day in history when it ceremoniously sent off the last of its F-16 aircraft to make room for the MQ-1 Predator and a new name – the 147th Reconnaissance Wing.

A new aviation training facility is in the future for Bush Intercontinental Airport George Bush Intercontinental Airport will be the home of a brand new, state-of-the-art, world-class training facility. Along with a new partnership, exciting plans to establish training classes and a facility were announced by the Houston Airport System, its affiliate HAS Development Corporation and the Texas Engineering Extension Service, a member of the Texas A&M University System.

Houston becomes the latest destination to offer a CityPass Houstonians of international fame such as singer and actress Beyonce Knowles are no longer the only ones touting Houston as a tourist destination. The United States tourist program known as CityPass has just added the Space City as its 11th destination to offer the CityPass traveler packages. CityPass offers discount package deals to various attractions within a city.

HAS looks for new businesses to contract Irfan Siddiqui knows a thing or two about taking advantage of a good opportunity. After moving to the United States from his native India in 1991 he began entry level work in the courier service business, dabbled in the car dealership industry for a decade and now is the owner of Rapid Delivery and Logistics.
