Frequency increases and passenger growth add 2 million more passengers to Houston’s airports
Just halfway through the year, passenger traffic at Houston’s airports is up by 2 million more passengers than in 2005. At this rate, another 4 million travelers will bring 2006’s total traffic numbers for the year to an all time high – 52 million. Freight poundage is also up at the Houston Airport System. Read Story

For shippers in Houston, increased international air service means increased revenue and faster turnaround times
More direct flights to Houston would reduce at least 24 hours from the delivery of costly cargo to the energy capital of the world – industry insiders agree. On any given night, when most consumers are fast asleep, a parade of various cargo-moving large-haul vehicles take over the streets of Houston as they transport any number of products from across the globe into the fourth-largest city in the United States. Ellington Field expanding
Houston’s third-largest airport is coming out of the shadows with a new taxilane, fixed-base operator and more. In approximately two months, a brand new FBO promising excellent customer service will be added to EFD. Rocket Man Aviation comes to Houston with its state of the art 17,500 square foot terminal and hangar. Three new corporate based operators will also set-up shop at Ellington Field. Read Story


Fueled by dramatic growth, Saudi Arabian Airlines doubles their operation out of Houston
For the national airline of Saudi Arabia, business out of Houston has always been good. So good, in fact, that this month the carrier will add a second frequency to their weekly operation out of Bush Intercontinental Airport. Beginning August 15th, Saudi Arabian Airlines will operate two weekly flights between Houston and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Read Story

Clearing the runway in the race against cancer, the Houston Airport System's Runway Race for Life
Anyone can develop cancer, and that’s a frightening thought for many people; but next month the Houston Airport System is clearing the runway and leading the race in an effort to help fight this disease, which is expected to attack almost one point four million people this year alone. On September 9th, Houston's airports will join the fight against cancer with a 5K fundraising race at George Bush Intercontinental. Read Story

Fighting more than fires at Houston airports
The Emergency Medical Service units stationed at Houston's airports are ready to respond to any situation. All EMS personnel in the airport are actually Houston Fire Fighters that have been trained as Emergency Medical Technicians. They make up a team known as Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters which is stationed at surrounding fire stations on airport property. Read Story

Elsie Hebert has been at Bush Intercontinental for over two decades and is now one of the most-celebrated businessowners inside the airport. The business of shoe-shining has proven to be very successful for Airport Shoeshine Parlors owner Hebert. The savvy businesswoman began her business at IAH in the 80's and has been there ever since.
