In Tokyo, Texas was a hit.

For many in attendance at the recent Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market (BITTM) event in China the highlight of the occasion was learning more about the Lone Star state.

Delegates from the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Texas Tourism Delegation, the Texas Economic Development Delegation and the Houston Airport System were among those at the event that bridged the gap between eastern interest and western appeal.

During the 10 day trade mission to Asia, which also included visits to Japan, participants explored the possibilities of coming to Texas for business and for fun.

Already the primary gateway into Latin America, Houston emerged as the center of attention for its appeal as a growing metropolis and as the energy capital of the world.

The Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market event is an annual platform for global and local industry professionals to meet, discuss and contract the upcoming seasons. Dedicated exclusively to business-to business, BITTM provides the essential link between the rapid development of the Chinese travel and tourism industry and the dynamic needs of the global industry.

With a 31 million passenger-strong market in 2005 and a predicted 100 million passengers by 2020, The World Tourism Organization (WTO) predicts that China is becoming the fourth most important outbound travel market in the world.
