A new record in 2005 – 48 million passengers and more than 347,000 metric tons of air cargo
Every region served by the Houston Airport System’s George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports saw significant increases in passenger traffic for 2005. HAS’ joint-use civil/military airport, Ellington Field also closed the year with substantial growth – total aircraft operations at that facility increased by 33.1 percent, year over year, for the month of December. Five Runways now fully-functional at Bush Intercontinental Airport
Just as scheduled, this month, the longest runway at George Bush Intercontinental Airport was reopened for aircraft operations after undergoing a massive $12 million rehabilitation. New perishable cargo facility ready to rise
Trammell Crow Company, a Dallas based corporate real estate company, has signed an agreement with the Houston Airport System to build the latest expansion to Bush Intercontinental Airport’s already impressive air cargo handling infrastructure. HAS kicks off All-Star weekend with an NBA champ

Miller named Ellington Field manager
Perry J. Miller was named airport manager of the Houston Airport System's joint-used civil/military airport, Ellington Field. The former airport system intern is now responsible for directing the day-to-day management of the airport; as well as for establishing policies, procedures, guidelines and project schedules for the site. Making the switch from land to air travel
If forecasts by Mexico’s civil aviation department are correct, Mexican air travel will double in the next three years. Government estimates indicate that discount carriers and new direct and non-stop services will drive more than 20 million passengers off the bus in as few as 36 months. Read Story
