Program Objectives:
This program is designed for high-level airport and government executives. It introduces professional perspectives of airport management philosophy, and presents the operations models as used at HAS airports
Program Activities:
Day 1 Delegate Arrivals
Day 2 Overview of the Houston Airport System (HAS) Overview of US3.9 billion HAS Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) Third Party Developers: o Tour of Intercontinental Airport (IAH) Air CargoCenter o Tour of Consolidated Rental Car Facility Tour of Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) station
Day 3 Site Tour of William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) o Overview of HOU and HOU CIPs o Tour of HOU Site Tour of Ellington Field Airport (EFD) o Overview of EFD o Noise compliance / land use controls o Demonstration of bird hazard control equipment o Driving tour of joint-use military and civil aviation airport
Day 4 Flight Delay Control o FAA: US Air Traffic Control; controlling flight delays o Continental Airlines (CO): Ramp traffic control o IAH Operations: Airport traffic control Driving tour of IAH to include Aircraft Operation Area (AOA)
Day 5 Airport Security o Transportation Security Administration (TSA) o HAS Public Safety o Roundtable Discussion on Airport Security Concessions Operations o Concessions Management by HAS Properties o Concession Operations by Concessionaire o IAH Terminal Walking Tour: Terminals A ˇV E
Day 6 Tour of Federal Inspection Security area and FIS Terminal Graduation Ceremony
Day 7, 8 Familiarization excursions in Houston and/or surrounding areas
Day 9 Delegate Departures from Houston
Program Duration & Location:
o Duration: 9 days program 5 days of training 2 days of familiarization excursions 1 day of arrival 1 day of departure
o Location: o Training seminars and site tours will be at HAS and affiliatesˇ¦ sites o Familiarization excursions may be conducted both within Houston and/or in surrounding areas
Number of Participants:
o Minimum number of participants is 12, maximum 24 students; applicants from airports unable to send the required minimum may be integrated with members from other airports
Applicant Requirements:
o Applicants must possess sufficient English proficiency that allows them to receive training in English o Applicants must obtain international medical and accident insurance covering the period throughout the entire program
