Program Objectives:
This program is designed to introduce professional perspectives of non-aeronautic concessions management and operations models at the Houston Airport System (HAS).
Program Activities:
o HAS Introduction and Overview: General overview and management philosophy of HAS, the fourth largest multiple-airport system in the United States and the sixth largest in the world
o Concessions Management Philosophy: Discussions on various management alternatives, including Prime Concessionaires, Direct Lessee and Developer Model; and establishing various rent and contract options
o Concessions Design Philosophy: Concessions revenue as the driving force behind the latest airport expansion and renovation concepts
o Selection Process: The Request For Proposal (RFP) process from initial offer to final contract; establishing measurable and objective performance standards
o Concessions Review: Evaluating and assessing concessions for performance and contract compliance
o Case Studies: Maximizing revenue and the use of available floor space; evolution of marketing concepts
o Site tours of HAS airports and concessions areas
Program Duration & Location:
o Duration: 9 days program 5 days of training 2 days of familiarization excursions 1 day of arrival 1 day of departure
o Location: o Training seminars and site tours will be at HAS and affiliatesˇ¦ sites o Familiarization excursions may be conducted both within Houston and/or in surrounding areas
Number of Participants:
o Minimum number of participants is 12, maximum 24 students; applicants from airports unable to send the required minimum may be integrated with members from other airports
Applicant Requirements:
o Applicants must possess sufficient English proficiency that allows them to receive training in English
o Applicants must obtain international medical and accident insurance covering the period throughout the entire program
