Houston’s airports implement ticket-less parking
Accessing the airports’ terminal garages no longer requires printing a parking ticket – motorists can now simply use their credit cards to pay at the entry gates

Self-service, please. Already an amenity at millions of retail chains across the country, the option of paying an automated machine is becoming ever more popular with American consumers. At George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) and William P. Hobby (HOU) airports this service is also available in the form of INSTA Park.

Instead of printing a parking ticket and paying an attendant at the gate, motorists at the airport can simply insert their credit card as they enter the public parking garages and then reenter the same credit card when they are ready to leave. This service is offered as yet another option for travelers at Houston’s airports.

Last year, the Houston Airport System (HAS), in conjunction with Harris County Toll Road Authority, inaugurated the EZ TAG parking program at Bush and Hobby. Through this initiative EZ TAG holders are able to park at the terminal garages by having the credit card associated with their EZ TAG accounts billed for any parking fees.

The Houston Airport System also simplified their parking rates at the end of last year by standardizing their parking fees. This new service hopes to build on that foundation.

“The traveler will save time by being able to have a completely automated entry and exit,” says Pearl Hurd, parking contract administrator for the Houston Airport System. “In addition, they will no longer have to worry about keeping up with a parking ticket.”

Ticket-Less Parking. With the swipe of a credit card, motorists can now access the Houston Airport System's parking garages.

INSTA Park, or the ticket-less credit card express payment option, will also reduce the number of vehicles utilizing traditional attendant-staffed gates. Airport authorities expect this will minimize wait times at the exit gates during peak hours.

“Long lines are not a major problem at our terminal garages, but we are well aware that every little bit helps when you are in a rush to get from point A to point B,” adds Hurd. “We always strive to make the process as efficient as possible and will continue to do so in the future.”

The INSTA Park program has already been implemented at several garages throughout Bush and Hobby airports, including IAH’s A/B garage, C east garage, C west garage, D/E garage, at Hobby’s main garage, and at both of the airports’ Parking Cents economy lots. New South Parking is the contractor for the program.
