[1] Runway 8L-26R Construction

The arrival and departure capacity of the airfield must exceed demand to avoid costly delays. To increase the arrival capacity of the airfield, a new parallel runway will be constructed north of the existing runway. Several alternative runway locations are being evaluated to ensure that the maximum benefit is realized.

[2] South Taxiway Bridge and Apron Expansion

The efficiency of aircraft taxiing operations on the south side of the terminal complex will be dramatically enhanced by extending the Terminal A/B south apron to provide an additional east-west taxi lane and constructing a crossover taxiway bridge between the Terminal A/B south apron and the Terminal C apron.

[3] Runway 15R-33L Upgrade & Bypass Taxiway

Departure capacity will be increased by widening and lengthening existing Runway 15R-33L. In addition, a parallel taxiway will be constructed between the runways with high speed exits from the runway. Access to Runways 15L and 15R will also be improved, increasing the efficiency of aircraft operations and reducing airfield congestion.

[4] Air Cargo Development

New, state-of-the-art air cargo facilities will be constr class="codeBlock_TD"ucted to accommodate the increasing demand for air cargo transportation. Phase 1 of the development includes ramp space for parking up to 20 wide body aircraft, and will provide more than 550,000 square feet of cargo building space. Cargo aircraft will have direct access to Runway 8-26 the future Runway 8L-26R, and - once the midfield taxiway is constructed - to Runway 9-27. The site also offers excellent ground access from Humble-Westfield Road and Will Clayton Boulevard.

[5] Consolidated Rental Car Facility

Visitors to the City of Houston who rent automobiles will pick up and drop off their cars at a new Consolidated Rental Car Facility. All customers will be transported between the terminals and the rental facility via a common busing system, eliminating the need for individual rental agency shuttles. This new system will reduce terminal curbside congestion and simplify the car rental process.

[6] Midfield Taxiway

The ability to taxi aircraft between the terminal complex and the east-west runways will be enhanced with the constr construction of a new midfield taxiway. The new taxiway will bridge over Will Clayton Boulevard and parallel to taxiway SF.
