This WPA Mural, 10 feet high by 16 feet wide, is on loan to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston due to the renovation work being done to Terminal C at George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
Illya Bolotowsky was born in Russia in 1916 and immigrated to the United States when he was 16. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York.
In the 1930’s, he was affiliated with such well-known figures as Mondrian, Miro and The Ten, a group of artists that included Rothko and Gottlief. |
