Galaxy Way is a work of suspended colored plexiglas by artist Rolando Briseņo.
It is a lyrical interpretation of the gigantic and luminous swirls of gas that formed the first stars and eventually became galaxies.
The translucent Plexiglas refracts the light coming in from the skylight and casts colored light on the white terrazzo floor of the station platform.
Rolando Briseņo holds a Bachelor of Arts and a bachelor of fine arts from the University of Texas and a master of fine arts from Columbia University in New York. |

He has received numerous grants and awards including two Pollack-Krasner Foundation grants, a NEA fellowship, and a residency in Italy sponsored by the Rockefeller Foundation. He has exhibited widely in both group and solo shows, nationally and internationally.
His work is included in many museums and private collections including the Brooklyn Museum and the Bronx Museum of the Arts, both in New York City, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. |
