Rob Wigington is new deputy director at HAS

After a nationwide search, the Houston Airport System appointed Rob Wigington as deputy director of Marketing, Communications and Community Affairs. He is responsible for worldwide air service development, media relations, international relations, advertising and community affairs. Previously, Mr. Wigington served as the Director of Marketing and Route Service Development for the San Diego International Airport.

“We are very pleased to welcome Rob Wigington to the Houston Airport System,” said Rick Vacar, director of aviation. “Rob’s extensive experience is a great asset to our organization and his leadership will help us continue to secure new air service options for Houston travelers.”

His 25 years of industry experience include serving as executive vice president, chief financial/operating officer for the Airports Council International-North America; leading airport/aviation consulting practices for Fleishman-Hillard/GPC and Booz Allen Hamilton; and handling public and community relations and intergovernmental affairs for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Mr. Wigington received his B.A. degree in government from Pomona College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration/Intergovernmental Management from the University of Southern California.
