Robert Wigington is the Deputy Director of Aviation for Marketing, Communications and Community Affairs for the Houston Airport System (HAS). He is responsible for worldwide air service development, marketing, advertising, communications, media relations, community and federal affairs, and customer relations for the Houston airports—George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport and Ellington Airport.

Mr. Wigington has more than 25 years of experience with the airport and aviation industry, transportation, travel & tourism, economic development and world trade, in New York, Washington, DC, San Diego and Houston. Prior to joining HAS in August 2007, he served as the Director of Marketing and Air Service Development for the San Diego International Airport/San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

He led the airport and aviation/transportation consulting practice for Fleishman-Hillard/GPC in Washington, DC, specializing in government relations, public affairs, marketing and strategic communications for major airports and aviation and corporate clients. He also served as senior associate in the Airport Financial and Management Consulting Group for Booz Allen Hamilton in Reston, Virginia.

Mr. Wigington served as executive vice president/CFO/COO for the Airports Council International-North America, the trade association of major commercial service airports worldwide, and was the chief lobbyist for the U.S. airport industry in Washington, DC. He began his career with the Port Authority of New York-New Jersey, which operates the three major NY-NJ airports (JFK, LaGuardia and Newark), major seaports and other transportation, economic development and world trade facilities.

Mr. Wigington received his B.A. degree in Government from Pomona College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration/Intergovernmental Management from the University of Southern California. He completed the Airports Council International Airport Executive Leadership Program at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University in Montreal. He has also served on numerous boards for non-profit and charitable organizations, including chairman of Travelers Aid International, and board member for the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana, and the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.
