Rob Wigington is the deputy director of Marketing, Communications and Community Affairs for the Houston Airport System (HAS). Mr. Wigington is responsible for worldwide air service development, media relations, international relations, advertising and community affairs. Previously, Rob Wigington served as the Director of Marketing and Route Service Development for the San Diego International Airport and the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. Mr. Wigington’s experience with airports and the aviation, transportation, economic development and travel & tourism industries encompasses more than 25 years in Washington, DC, New York and San Diego. He served as executive vice president, chief financial/operating officer for the Airports Council International-North America, the Washington, DC trade association representing the major commercial service airports in North America, and was the chief lobbyist for the airport industry in Washington, DC. Prior to joining the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Mr. Wigington led the airport and aviation/transportation consulting practice for Fleishman-Hillard/GPC in Washington, DC., specializing in government representation, legislative and public policy issues, business marketing, strategic communications and public and media relations campaigns for major airport, aviation and corporate clients. He also served as senior associate in the Airport Financial and Management Consulting Group for Booz Allen Hamilton in Reston, Virginia.

Mr. Wigington began his career with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he handled public and community relations and intergovernmental affairs.

Mr. Wigington received his B.A. degree in government from Pomona College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration/Intergovernmental Management from the University of Southern California. He has completed the Airports Council International Airport Executive Leadership Program at the John Molson School of Business, Concordia University in Montreal.

Mr. Wigington has also served on numerous boards for non-profit and charitable organizations, including serving as past chairman of Travelers Aid International, serving as board member of the Travelers Aid Society of San Diego, the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana and the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives.
