Houston Airport System opens doors for small businesses
August 13, 2007

The Houston Airport System (HAS) will hold its second annual Small Business Opportunity Networking Fair at the Humble Civic Center on Wednesday, August 29th between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The day-long event is designed to introduce more businesses to the bidding and contracting process while promoting new partnerships.

The event includes workshops on how to get certified, how to identify potential business opportunities and one-on-one meetings with dozens of prime and sub contractors. HAS representatives will be available to help those interested understand how to do business with our airports.

“It is our goal to make sure all types of business owners get a fair shot at doing business with the airport system,” says Rick Vacar, HAS director. “There is plenty of opportunity at our airports and we want to make sure people know how to take advantage of this thriving business environment.”

The Small Business Opportunity Networking Fair is something of a call to arms for business owners who want a piece of the multi-million dollar contract pie available through HAS. Contracts and services used include supply, purchasing, planning, architecture, electrical, construction, retail, food and beverage, to name a few.

Businesses are encouraged to register for the event at http://www.fly2houston.com. Businesses may also contact HAS at has.smallbusiness@cityofhouston.net or by calling (281) 233-7823.
