Buzz Airways is set to make its Houston debut with nonstop service to Branson, Missouri.
William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) is set to welcome a new airline to its existing list of carriers, as Buzz Airways launches nonstop flights between Houston and Branson, Missouri.

Beginning on June 12, 2014, Buzz Airways will operate six flights per week between Houston and Branson Airport (BKG), which is located in the popular tourist town in southwest Missouri.

Since the Spring of 2013, passengers have been accessing BKG through Southwest Airlines but that nonstop service will cease operations beginning on June 8, 2014.

“Buzz Airways is here to provide service to communities that have faced a reduction or elimination of flights by the major airlines and their regional partners. With average load factors in excess of 80%, Southwest has clearly demonstrated the existence of demand in these particular markets,” stated Matt Chaifetz, Chief Commercial Officer of Buzz Airways. “We are happy to step in to continue to offer low fares, great service, and nonstop flights for the busy summer travel season.”

Nonstop service between Houston and Branson was initially launched through a charter service in 2009, which was established by the air service development team at Branson Airport itself.

AirTran Airways adopted the route within a matter of months, and Southwest Airlines became involved when AirTran became a wholly owned subsidiary of the low cost carrier.  But with Southwest Airlines discontinuing the service between HOU and BKG, Buzz Airways is stepping in to fill the void.

Located in the Ozark Mountains, the relatively small town of Branson has successfully marketed itself as a major vacation hotspot, drawing in thousands of tourists with a lively entertainment scene.  Fares aboard Buzz Airways begin at $99 each way including taxes.  For more information, visit the airline's Web site at
