Kingwood Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2013 Women of Achievement Gala for the Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center.
San Jacinto College Convocation
The Houston Airport System (HAS) has informational visits to inform stakeholders about current planning developments and the economic value that HAS brings to the local economy.  HAS recently participated in the San Jacinto College Continuing & Professional Development Convocation.  Panelists included: Port of Houston – Colonel Len Waterworth, Executive Director; Union Pacific Railroad – Ken Kuwamura, Senior Recruiting Manager; Houston Airport System – Jarrett Simmons, HAS Planning Director; Economic Alliance, Port Region – Chad Burke, Executive Director and Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership – Dan Seal and Bob Mitchell, Executive Director. Also in attendance: Dr. Sarah Percy Janes, PhD,Vice President - Continuing & Professional Development for San Jacinto College and Rhonda Arnold – HAS Community Relations Director.

Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) Maintaining relations with constituents and providing information to area civic organizations and regional chambers is important to the Houston Airport System particularly in the Clear Lake area as we continue to pursue a Houston Spaceport. Our partnership with the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) and the leadership at Ellington is vital to the success of this effort. HAS leadership recently met with BAHEP to discuss our current development plans and projection of upcoming outreach for the remaining on this year and the upcoming fiscal year: In attendance: BAHEP: Bob Mitchell and Dan Seal; Ellington:Chuck Farina and Pete Fress; HAS External Affairs: Saba Abashawl, Tim Joniec and Rhonda Arnold. 

Kingwood Community Event
The 2013 Women of Achievement Gala for the Family Time Crisis and Counseling Center. Family Time is such a great organization and we were glad to see such wonderful women being honored in our community. Present: Michelle Parnell of Wells Fargo, Helen Callier of Bradlink, LLC.; Rhonda Arnold – HAS Community Relations Director and Claudette Jasper Wells Fargo Vice President/Business Development Officer.

Mayor Parker swears in Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
Working with community leaders builds relationships and provides information for the business leaders regarding HAS. Newly sworn in Board Member, Rhonda Arnold, HAS Community Relations Director, maintains relations and works to keep business leaders aware of HAS initiatives.

South Western Aerospace Professional Representatives Association
SWAPRA recently held an event with Mr. Gene Kranz – the NASA Flight Director who led the effort to save Apollo 13 and has become synonymous with the phrase “Failure is Not an Option”.  Arturo Machuca, Business Development Manager for the Houston Spaceport represented HAS.

LULAC, League of United Latin Americans – Land, Sea and Air -Mayor’s Reception
Mayor Annise Parker was honored by Lulac Council 643 for her appointments of HAS Director Mario Diaz, Janiece Longoria, Chairman- Port of Houston Authority and Gilbert Garcia, Chairman Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), all in the fields of transportation. Texas State Senator Sylvia Garcia was the Mistress of Ceremonies. Each Transportation Director gave brief comments and received special recognition from LULAC for their professional achievements. LULAC engages its network of 135,000 community volunteers, 900 local councils, 56 community technology centers and 14 LULAC National Educational Service Centers to empower Hispanic families through direct service programs and advocacy in 35 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Others Present: City of Houston Councilmembers, Area Elected Officials and Business Leaders, LULAC President Patricia Cabrera and Rhonda Arnold -HAS Community Relations Director. 

The Children are our Future: You Matter to Houston Airports!
PDC professionals gave inspiration to the students of Reed Academy during Aldine ISD’s Annual Career Day hosted by Ruby Reed Academy for Engineering. Project Managers, James Dean and Melvin Price addressed approximately 100 students. The students enjoyed listening to the professionals speak about their careers and welcome the opportunity to learn more about the choices available to them upon graduation.
