Commerce Business Luncheon focused on business
strategy and development.

Congratulations to Rhonda Arnold

The Houston Airport System (HAS) would like to congratulate Director of Community Relations Rhonda Arnold on her recent recognition at the Texas Women's Empowerment Foundation's 7th Annual International Financial and Leadership Summit. 

Arnold was recognized for her efforts in strengthening the Houston community through the establishment of strategic partnerships and relationships, as well as her efforts in leading the young people of Houston towards successful and productive careers.

"As a recipient of the International Leadership Empowerment Award, I am truly humbled and grateful," Arnold said.  "To be included on such a presitigious list of honorees is an increcible honor and it's certainly one which I will always remember."

Jamaican Foundation Independence

Lance Lyttle, Chief Operating Officer for Houston Airports, was the keynote speaker for at the Jamaican Foundation 51st Independence Celebration.

This important stakeholder is dedicated to strengthening of cultural ties between peoples of the Caribbean and Texas, particularly those residing in the Greater Houston area. 

Lyttle gave an inspiring and heartwarming speech on learning to appreciate the small things in life and soon you may discover that they may be the best things in life.

Others Present: Harleen Smith, Chief Human Resource Officer; Justina Mann, Assistant Director of Procurement and Supply Chain Management; Karen Ellis, Director of Customer Relations; Perry Miller, General Manager of Hobby Airport; and Rhonda Arnold, Director of Community Relations.

Chamber Outreach - Pearland Chamber of Commerce

Mario C. Diaz, City of Houston Aviation Director, was the keynote speaker to an audience of over 100 citizens during the Pearland Chamber of Commerce August luncheon. His speech was informative and provided key updates on the Houston Airport System's economic impact; as well as the international expansion at Hobby Airport.

The Pearland Chamber of Commerce is located in Pearland, Texas. This progressive neighboring chamber has over 700 members and represents thousands of employees in the area. Pearland is now the 2nd fastest growing city in Texas and the 3rd largest in the Gulf Coast region.

They are just minutes from Hobby Airport and Ellington Airport and have indicated that both of these facilities play a crucial part in the economic development of Pearland, Texas.

Indo - American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston - 14th Annual Awards

A key stakeholder in the Houston region, the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) recently presented annual awards to leaders in the community.

This event was attended by over 600 guests who included our executives Samar Mukhopadhyay, Chief Development Officer and Carl Newman, General Manager of Bush International Airport. Robert Beauchamp, Chairman and CEO of BMC Software was the keynote speaker. Beauchamp presented information that demonstrated the importance of IACCGH and its contribution in connecting India with the United States of America. The chief guest was P Harish, Consul General of India, Houston. Jagdip Ahluwalia, IACCGH founding member and its executive director received a special award for his "outstanding contributions to the chamber" since 1999.

Other present: The Honorable Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker; Congressmen Al Green and Pete Olson; Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee, and Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce – Business Luncheon

This community event focused on strategy and, business development. Ms. Ashley Merryman, was the keynote speaker and spoke about gender differences in competitiveness and that women make up only 18% of Congress. This was particularly interesting to the Honorable Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee who was present at the event and had a few words regarding the subject. Additionally, the phenomenal Joanne Herring, political activist and businesswoman was also in the audience and shared words of wisdom: Others present: GWHCC Members: Dana Kervin and Suzan Deison; Maria Rios, President and CEO of Nation Waste, Inc.; Rhonda Arnold (HAS) and Ernie Manouse (PBS)
