Outreach Efforts

A meeting with the Greater Sharpstown Management District covered a variety of topics, including new air service, construction projects and other key updates.

Houston's Chief Development Officer Andy Icken joins the President & CEO of the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Laura Murillo for a group discussion.

Jason McClemore, Justina Mann and Rhonda Arnold were three of the representatives from the Houston Airport System at the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce - International Summit.

The Community is important to the Houston Airport System. We work together in order to provide information to our neighbors by addressing the concerns of our passengers and by educating the young people of the Houston region.

Greater Sharpstown Management District

In collaboration with the Community Relations division of the Houston Airport System (HAS), Molly Waits – Director of Air Service Development made a presentation to the Greater Sharpstown Management District regarding new air service, the scheduled improvements to airport facilities, and other news updates. The Business and Economic Development Committee welcomed the opportunity to share information regarding their district. Community Relations also provided information regarding the HAS volunteer outreach program. Other community leaders present: Board Member Harry Shani, Board Chair Kenneth Li, Committee Chair & Board Member Don Wang, Committee Member Jim Wu, Director of Services, Richard Rodriguez

Houston Airports and the Department of Neighborhoods – You Matter!

Recently, Director of Community Relations Rhonda Arnold met with Anita Ivery (Northside including Acres Homes) and Gwendolyn Condoleo (Kingwood) of the Department of Neighborhoods to provide information regarding upcoming projects at HAS and to address constituents concerns and to determine outreach to area civic clubs as well as information regarding our Volunteer Ambassador programs. The Department of Neighborhoods (DON) is an entity dedicated to improving the quality of life in our neighborhoods through expanded outreach, stronger community partnerships and improved government responsiveness.

Galleria Rotary Club

Community Relations made a presentation to the Galleria Rotary International Club regarding the scheduled improvements to airport facilities, air service, and other news updates including information regarding the HAS volunteer outreach efforts. This delightful group of leaders enthusiastically participated in the discussion and the exchange of information. The Galleria Rotary Club Intercontinental is composed of community leaders dedicated to addressing the humanitarian needs of our local and international communities. Special Thanks to: Bev Fitzgerald, Max Patterson, Barbara Sharp, Harvey Heller and Russ Newton and the entire Board and members of the Galleria Rotary Club.

Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce – International Summit

In collaboration with the External Affairs Division of Houston Airports, Ian Wadsworth, Chief Commerical Development Officer, gave a presentation to the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce – International Summit regarding air service, the improvements to airport facilities, and other news updates. Mr. Andy Icken, City of Houston’s Chief Development Officer and President of the Chamber Dr. Laura Murillo had a brief discussion regarding International Economic Development and the City’s international strategies and the opportunities for small businesses.  Col. Leonard Waterworth,(retired) - Executive Director at Port of Houston Authority, also discussed international opportunities at the Port of Houston. Community Relations and the Supply Chain department staffed the HAS booth with information regarding upcoming projects and volunteer opportunities. DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Hobby Airport-CARE Fair

The CARE (Creating A Rewarding Experience) committee focuses their time and resources on these areas: Guest Relations, Team Member Relations and Community Relations. The purpose of this CARE FAIR is to create health and safety awareness for team members. “Healthy Team Members = Happy Guests” Hobby Airport participated by supplying DoubleTree team members with fast facts on Hobby Airport, speaking on the upcoming International Expansion and providing giveaways. Gabby Dirden and HOU Safety Manager Dawn Hoffman participated. Special Thanks to Team Hobby: GM Perry Miller and Gabrielle Dirden

HobbyFest: Community Relations

HobbyFest was held from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm on the East ramp at HOU off West Monroe. This event serves as a thank you to the community and offers a chance for HAS team members to continue to foster relationships with our stakeholders. Community guests were able to enjoy the sounds of our DJ, vintage static aircraft displays, the NASA Super Guppy, food and kid friendly fun like face painting, inflatables and the Mad Science Exhibit. With the partnership of 18 vendor booths at the event; and with the help of our stakeholders we were able to raise $18,000.00 in cash sponsorships, over $21,000.00 of in-kind donations and award five students with $1,000 scholarships.
