New Flights Land at Bush Airport
and Hobby Airport

New nonstop flights will bring greater access to three key destinations:  Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Wilmington.
New air service continues to arrive in Houston, as airlines look to maximize the potential surrounding the nations’ most robust and dynamic economy.

The most recent announcements cover new nonstop service to various regions of the country, including California, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The good news is spanning across both commercial airports in Houston, with new flights arriving at both George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU).

Spirit Airlines to Los Angeles

Spirit Airlines is set to have a busy spring season, launching new nonstop flights from Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Los Angeles, California, Denver, Colorado and Detroit, Michigan.

The service to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will kick off the expansion period for Spirit Airlines, with service beginning on April 25, 2013.

"Houston leads the nation in economic recovery and the Houston Airport System is delighted to add new nonstop flights to Los Angeles," said Mario C. Diaz, director of the Houston Airport System. "Bush Intercontinental welcomes the expansion by Spirit Airlines as we celebrate this increased capacity between Texas and California."

The flight from Houston will depart IAH at 9:05 p.m., arriving in Los Angeles at 10:50 p.m. (PST). Less than an hour later, the aircraft will depart on its return trip to Houston, arriving at 4:50 a.m. local time.

The nonstop flight to Los Angeles marks the sixth time leaders with Spirit Airlines have stepped forward with new service for Houston passengers since arriving in the market in September 2012.

Southwest Airlines to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh and Houston celebrate a new direct flight operated by Southwest Airlines from Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) to William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) in Houston, which provides business travelers in the energy sector new travel options to the Energy Capital of the World.

The PIT-HOU schedule will include one flight daily. Monday through Friday, it will depart PIT at 11:50 am, arriving HOU at 2:00. p.m. Saturdays it will depart PIT at 9:15 a.m. and on Sunday depart PIT at 12:00 p.m. Returning from HOU to PIT: Sunday through Friday, the flight will depart HOU at 1:35 p.m. and arrive at PIT 5:35 p.m. Saturday, it departs HOU at 10:35 a.m. and arrives at PIT 2:29 p.m.

Frontier Airlines to Delaware

Frontier Airlines is bringing its friendly brand of low-fare air service to New Castle Airport in Wilmington, Delaware and the airline is choosing Houston, Texas as one of its first routes.

“Airlines continue to recognize the amazing economic success story that’s unfolding here in Houston,” says Hobby Airport general manager Perry J. Miller. “The demand for nonstop air service to Houston is incredibly high nationwide and we’re certainly reaping the benefits from that fact.”

Frontier Airlines will begin offering nonstop air service between Delaware’s New Castle Airport (ILG) and Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) on July 2, 2013. The airline will operate the flight three times per week and will utilize its Airbus A320 aircraft. The A320 offers a seat capacity of 168 people and features several customer amenities, including 30 channels of DIRECTV service, which is available at every seat.
