The 5th Annual Aeros & Autos event will be held on May 11, 2013 at Ellington Airport.
Ellington Airport is once again ready to play host to one of the most exciting events on the Houston Airports calendar, as the 5th Annual Aeros & Autos event is set to take place on Saturday, May 11.

Aeros & Autos brings guests the best of both transportation worlds, high performance airplanes and muscle style automobiles.

From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ellington Airport, guests will be offered an upclose view of both high performance military as well as civilian aircraft.

For car enthusiasts, Aeros & Autos represents one of the premiere auto shows anywhere in Texas, with hundreds of muscle car owners coming together to compete against one another in various categories.

The 2013 Aeros & Autos event will also bring back a special attraction which made its debut in 2012. It’s an event that’s been dubbed the “Houston Half-Mile Shootout.”

Registered drivers will be allowed to drive their vehicles as fast as possible along one of Ellington’s runways. Space for this portion of the event is limited so if you’re interested, visit HoustonMile.com

The event will also offer some familiar favorites, like an amazing collection of various aircraft. Members of the United States military, as well as private aircraft owners, will be on sight to offer aviation enthusiasts a rare up close glimpse of their high powered machines.

In addition to the displays provided by members of the United States military, other displays will be provided by groups such as the Houston Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, NASA, the Lone Star Flight Museum and many more.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the USO and the Texas Lions Camp. Since the event first began five years ago, gifts and donations have topped the $100,000 mark, with every penny going to charity.

*  Admission is just $5 per person, with children under 3 getting in free.
* The gate will open at 9:00 a.m. for the event and will close at 4:00 p.m.

The layout for this year’s event will be the same one that was unveiled in 2012. Drivers will need to enter off Genoa Redbluff along the north side of airport facility, allowing access to one of the actual runways at Ellington Airport.
