Houston was one of the first cities chosen by United Airlines to participate in its baggage delivery service.
Just weeks after launching a new baggage delivery option in Houston and five other U.S. cities, United Airlines is now expanding the service to 30 additional airports.

The service, available to passengers traveling within 100 miles of their arrival airport, enables customers to skip baggage claim upon arrival and have their checked bags delivered directly to their final destinations.

“Following positive customer response after our first month, we’re pleased to expand our baggage delivery service to 30 additional cities,” said Scott Wilson, United’s vice president of merchandising and eCommerce. “Just in time for Spring Break, the service is now available for customers flying on 80 percent of United’s domestic flights.”

IAH, which represents the largest hub operation for United Airlines, was an obvious choice for participation in the airline’s new program.

“This new service fits in perfectly with the customer-friendly philosophy that exists at George Bush Intercontinental Airport,” says IAH general manager Carl Newman. “We certainly share United’s commitment to making the travel process as seamless as possible and this affordable option fits in very well with that mindset.”

Initially the program was limited to passengers in Houston, Boston, Chicago, Honolulu, Los Angeles and Orlando. But with the recent announcement, the service is expanded to a total of 36 airport facilities. United Airlines plans to eventually make the service available at more than 190 domestic airports.

Standard rates for bag delivery within a 40-mile radius are as follows:

1 bag $29.95
2 bags $39.95
3-8 bags $49.95

Delivery pricing is in addition to any standard checked-bag charges that might otherwise apply.

Customers can order the service directly from BagsVIP online, or by calling 1-877-847-0045.
