Spirit Airlines has been aggressively adding destinations to its route list since arriving in Houston in September 2012.  Los Angeles is the latest city to be added to the nonstop list.
Spirit Airlines is starting ultra low fare service between Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on April 25, 2013.

The announcement marks the second time that the airline has expanded its Houston route map since its arrival in September 2012. The Florida-based carrier began operations in Houston with non-stop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) but quickly added nonstops to O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in Chicago, Illinois and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS).

“Houston leads the nation in economic recovery and the Houston Airport System is delighted to add new nonstop flights to Los Angeles,” said Mario C. Diaz, Houston's aviation director. “Bush Intercontinental welcomes the expansion by Spirit Airlines as we celebrate this increased capacity between Texas and California.”

Spirit Airlines offers passengers ultra low base fares, with a range of optional services for a fee, allowing customers the freedom to choose only the extras they value.  Customers can learn more at

Spirit’s all-Airbus fleet currently operates more than 200 daily flights to over 50 destinations within the U.S., Latin America and Caribbean.

“We look forward to giving even more customers the opportunity to save money on travel with our ultra low fares and optional add-ons that provide customers with a total price that’s tough to beat,” said Spirit’s chief marketing officer Barry Biffle.

The daily nonstop flight will feature late night departure times at both destinations, leaving Houston at 9:05 p.m. and departing from Los Angeles at 11:40 p.m.
