Spirit Airlines is already making plans to expand its Houston schedule, even before its inaugural flight rolls down the runway at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH).
In addition to the new flight connecting Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) that begins on September 20, 2012, the low cost carrier is also launching non-stop flights to both Chicago, Illinois and Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Bush Intercontinental is an important economic engine for the City of Houston, and Spirit's expansion in the largest city in Texas offers passengers great options for nonstop flights from Houston,” said Mario C. Diaz, director of aviation for Houston Airports. “Houston is thrilled to welcome Spirit, offering low fares to key markets, to the Gulf Coast of Texas.”
The expanded schedule means that representatives with Spirit Airlines will be extremely busy in Houston throughout the remainder of 2012.
After the IAH - DFW launch in September, the airline will begin service to Chicago's O-Hare Airport (ORD) and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas (LAS) on October 4, 2012.
“We look forward to welcoming all of our new Houston customers aboard,” says Spirit’s spokesperson Misty Pinson. “We are committed to saving our customers money on travel by offering them the lowest fares.”
Spirit Airlines offers passengers ultra low base fares, with a range of optional services for a fee, allowing customers the freedom to choose only the extras they value. Customers can learn more at www.spirit.com. Spirit’s all-Airbus fleet currently operates more than 200 daily flights to over 50 destinations within the U.S., Latin America and Caribbean.
Flight times for both the Chicago and Las Vegas flights will undergo alterations in early November 2012. Shown below are the anticipated schedules for each route:
