Old favorites and new attractions can both be found at the 2012 Aeros & Autos Event on May 12, 2012.
Ellington Airport is once again ready to play host to one of the most exciting events on the Houston Airports calendar, as the 4th Annual Aeros & Autos event is set to take place on Saturday, May 12.

This year's event features will bring guests some new features and attractions, including an event being called the “Houston Half-Mile Shootout.”

Registered drivers will be allowed to drive their vehicles as fast as possible along one of Ellington’s runways.  Space for this portion of the event is limited so if you’re interested, visit

The event represents one of the nation’s premier car shows, as hundreds of muscle car owners gather together to compete against one another in various categories.

Guests for this year’s event will be dealing with a different layout. Everything is still taking place at Ellington Airport but the overall location has been changed. Drivers will need to enter off Genoa Redbluff along the north side of airport facility, allowing access to one of the actual runways at Ellington Airport.

The event will also offer some familiar favorites, like an amazing collection of various aircraft. Members of the United States military, as well as private aircraft owners, will be on sight to offer aviation enthusiasts a rare up close glimpse of their high powered machines.

That’s in addition to the displays exhibited by groups such as the Houston Police Department, the U.S. Coast Guard, NASA, the Lone Star Flight Museum and many more. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the USO and the Texas Lions Camp. Since the event first began four years ago, gifts and donations have topped the $100,000 mark, with every penny going to charity.

*  Admission is just $5 per person, with children under 3 getting in free.
*  The gate will open at 9:00 a.m. for the event and will close at 4:00 p.m.
