Cargolux Connects Houston and West Africa
One of the leading cargo airlines in the world is now operating freight service between Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana, two of West Africas strongest energy markets. Cargolux launched operations between Houston and the African continent on October 24 with its Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

White House Targets Houston Airports for Technology Testing
Houston will once again play a key role in the development of a new state-of-the-art aircraft tracking system. A multi-million dollar project, known as Next Generation Air Transportation System Infrastructure, or Next Gen, is combining satellite positioning technology with ground-based positioning equipment at both George Bush Intercontinental Airport and William P. Hobby Airport.

Houston Aviation Director Named to Key Aviation Board
Mario Diaz, the city of Houston's aviation director, is now a member of the Board of Directors for Airports Council International-North America. Diaz was named to the position during the organizations annual meeting, which took place in October in San Diego, California.

Houston to Africa Flight Set to Take Off
On November 16, Continental Airlines will launch non-stop service between Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Lagos, Nigeria. The service will begin by utilizing the Boeing 777 aircraft but will eventually feature the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Air Cargo Continues to Grow in Houston
Through the first nine months of the year, George Bush Intercontinental Airport is on pace to handle more air cargo in 2011 than it has in any year since opening in 1969 and with the arrival of Qatar Airways Cargo, those numbers are now promising to be even more impressive by year's end.
