Frontier's non-stop service to Kansas City will begin on November 1.
Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is set to begin non-stop service between William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) and Kansas City International Airport (MCI) starting on November 1, 2011.

Frontier Airlines will operate one daily flight departing Houston at 1:15 p.m. A second flight, departing at 8:30 a.m., will be available on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

“First and foremost, this announcement brings Kansas City non-stop service to Hobby Airport, which is very important to our customers,” says Genaro Peña, director of air service development. “But it’s also an indication that Frontier is feeling comfortable with their new surroundings since moving to Hobby Airport late last year.”

After serving customers at George Bush Intercontinental Airport for nine years, Frontier made the move to Hobby Airport on November 18, 2010.

Airline officials said Hobby’s reputation for affordability and its proximity to downtown were the deciding factors in prompting the move.

Eight months later and the move appears to be paying dividends for both the airline and passengers, with Frontier adding its second Houston route to go along with daily service to Denver, Colorado.

“We are excited to expand our low-fare, non-stop service to include Houston’s convenient close-to-downtown Hobby Airport,” said Daniel Shurz, vice president of strategy and planning for Frontier Airlines.
