VivaAerobus Doubles Number of Flights in First Year
The success of VivaAerobus non-stop flight between Houston and Monterrey, Mexico is prompting the low-cost carrier to add a fourth frequency by the end of August 2011. VivaAerobus entered the Houston market in July 2010 by offering two weekly flights to Monterrey from George Bush Intercontinental Airport, but the success of that service has since called for the airline to add two roundtrip flights to their weekly schedule.

Houston Targets Panama Service
The Houston Airport System recently teamed-up with the Greater Houston Partnership and the Port of Houston Authority for a three-day mission to Panama to discuss trade and investment opportunities. The purpose of the mission, which ran from June 21 to June 24, was to strengthen ties between Houston and Panama in preparation for the expansion of the Panama Canal, which is slated to happen within the next 36 months.

Third Flight is Added to Saudi Airlines Cargo Schedule
Saudi Airlines Cargo recently announced that the number of flights operating between Houston and Dammam, Saudi Arabia will be increasing soon. A third frequency between Dammam and George Bush Intercontinental Airport has already been announced by the company and is scheduled to be launched by the end of July.

"Dive Pirates" Given Red Carpet Treatment at Bush Airport
Twenty wounded service members from the United States Military received a special send-off as they passed through George Bush Intercontinental Airport on their way to the Cayman Islands. The group was on their way to the Caribbean, thanks to members of the Dive Pirates Foundation, an organization committed to providing an annual adventure for those service members who have been severely wounded in overseas combat.

His primary job function is to assist Terminal A passengers with the curbside check-in process. But Shep, as hes known around the workplace, says his role goes well beyond simple data entry and baggage handling.

Houston Airports Finding New Revenue Sources
Passengers are noticing a different look as they make their way through security checkpoints at both Hobby Airport and Bush Intercontinental Airport. Print advertising can now be found inside the plastic bins being used to store passengers personal items, as well as the tables located near screening machines and new carts used to transport the bins from various locations.

Lufthansa Cargo Launches Second Flight
Lufthansa Cargo is doubling its number of flights between Bush Intercontinental Airport and Frankfurt, Germany, as a second weekly frequency is launched on June 16, 2011. The new flight option will feature the MD-11 aircraft and will involve a brief stop in New York before continuing on to Germany.
