Flight availability is rising at Houstons Airports
2011 has been good for Houstons global reach. As of March 2011, Houstons airports have announced 126 additional weekly flights for George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airport customers. Currently, the Houston Airport System offers 179 nonstop destinations; roughly 5,803 flights per week.

New Entryway For Passengers at Hobby
Passengers at William P. Hobby Airport now have a more convenient and attractive way to enter the building on their next flight, thanks to a newly constructed entryway and lobby. The renovations, which were completed on March 15, affect everything from the ceiling lighting to the terrazzo floors, and represent a major portion of an overall $250 million improvement program currently underway at Hobby Airport.


Houston Aims to Grow Trade with Turkey
The Houston Airport System is growing ties to one of the fastest growing countries in the world, with hopes of launching new air service between Houston and Turkey. Aviation Director Mario C. Diaz recently traveled to Turkey to discuss expanding trade and air service opportunities.




Lufthansa Cargo Announces New Service
Lufthansa Cargo is significantly expanding its network in the summer flight schedule. A direct air-cargo flight between Frankfurt-Houston-Atlanta-Frankfurt began April 3, 2011 and will continue weekly service on Sundays with a Boeing 777F Aerologic Freighter.


Houston Cleared for Cuban Charter Flights
George Bush Intercontinental Airport is now one of only thirteen airports in the United States authorized by the federal government to operate charter flights to and from Cuba. The designation comes from the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
